By Train

Reserving A Seat

Described by the artist Salvador Dali as the "centre of the Universe", it is true to say that "La Gare de Perignan" is well served by the French national rail network.

Trains are normally routed via Narbonne, taking 8-9 hours from the north coast of France.

From Spain there is a slow rail link from Girona (2 hours) - a high speed link to Barcelona is currently under construction.

By Car

If you're planning on taking a drive down to Perpignan from the UK you should allow 12 to 14 hours by motorway from the ferry terminals in Northern France.

Perpignan is connected to the national road network by the A9(E15) Motorway and the D900(RN900) Route Nationale running down to the Spanish border.

If you're coming by motorway, there are two exits to the north and south of Perpignan. Take the closest exit to your direction of travel and then follow the green Route Nationale signs onto the D900 Perpignan (Centre Ville).

From the North:

  1. Take exit 41-Perpignan-Nord toward Perpignan-Centre/Canet/Le Barcarès Toll road (750m)
  2. Slight left Partial toll road (270m)
  3. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the D900 ramp to Perpignan (500m)
  4. Merge onto D900 Speed cameras begin in 1.2km (9.6 km)
  5. Continue onto Cours Lazare Escarguel (210m)

From The South:


  1. Head north on A9 toward Exit 42 - Perpignan-Sud Toll road (160m)
  2. Take exit 42-Perpignan-Sud toward Perpignan-Centre/Andorre/Prades Toll road (1.0km)
  3. Merge onto D900 Go through 2 roundabouts (6.3km)
  4. Take the exit toward Cours Lazare Escarguel (350m)
  5. Turn right at Cours Lazare Escarguel (210m)

...and now, having come from either the north or south,

  1. Stay in the right-hand lane on Cours Lazare Escarguel (80m)
  2. Pass the right turn to "La Gare" and turn next right at Rue Léon Dieudé (100m)
  3. Turn left at the 2nd cross street onto Rue Saint-Amant (70m)
  4. Turn right at Rue Alexandre Joseph Olivia and find on-street parking
    No. 28 is the second apartment building on the left (27m)

By Air

Airports

Perpignan has its own airport at Rivesaltes, less than a 15 minute taxi ride from the apartment, but is also accessible from the following airports:

  • Beziers (1 hour drive)
  • Carcassonne (1.5 hours)
  • Gerona, Spain (1.5 hours)
  • Montpellier (2 hours)
  • Toulouse International Airport (2 hours)

Airport Transfers

There is a connecting shuttle bus service between Perpignan (Rivesaltes) Airport and Perpignan Train Station which is a 5 minute walk from the apartment. For more information on the shuttle, look at the full timetable.

Frogbus operate a regular coach service from Gerona Airport to Perpignan SNCF. A timetable and booking form can be found at the Frogbus website

Shuttle services run from Beziers, Montpellier, Toulouse and Carcassonne Airports to the local stations for onward travel by train to Perpignan SNCF.

Car Hire

To avoid disappointment at the airport it is better to book in advance. You can either visit the usual rental companies individually online, e.g. Europcar, Avis or Hertz or use a centralised booking service such as Holiday Autos to save time and get the best deals wherever you're planning to pick up your car.
